Dr Matthew Jones, Director of Nutrition and Veterinarian at the Southern Poultry Research Group, is presenting at the 2022 Annual Poultry Science Association Meeting in Texas. The work, titled “Evaluation of a Phytogenic Compound, Orego-Stim, in Broiler Chickens During Eimeria maxima Challenge”, will be presented on the 14th July at 1.15pm in the Immunology, Health and Disease II session.
Coccidiosis globally impacts both broiler welfare and performance. Certain phytogenic products have been shown to influence Eimeria species and may be beneficial in mitigating conditions involving this protozoal parasite. The trial work being presented reports the results of feeding various doses of Anpario’s Orego-Stim Powder in reducing the negative effects of coccidia.
Dr Jones has a PhD in Poultry Science and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia. His current role at SPRG requires involvement in many aspects of applied poultry research with an emphasis on challenge models allowing him to merge and further his understanding of both veterinary medicine and nutritional health.
