Overal Purpose of Job:

  • To ensure products are manufactured and raw materials available in accordance with the production and transport programme, maximising throughput whilst maintaining high quality standards.

  • To supervise, leading by example, ensuring work is carried out correctly, meeting customer quality and service demands; maintaining site cleanliness and ensuring all work is performed in a safe manner in accordance with all company and legislative requirements.

General Description – Task Related

Production

  • Take full responsibility of Shift handover, ensuring all issues communicated with other Shift Leaders

  • Organise your team minimising production downtime

  • Ensure product is manufactured to meet the product protocols required to satisfy customer order requirements, as detailed below:

    – Correct product: looks correct and flows correctly

    – Correct quantity: bag weight to match protocol

    – Packed correctly: correct bag, correct crepe, properly   stitched

    – Labelled correctly

    – Stacked correctly

  • Ensure product is manufactured to meet production schedule and vehicle-loading schedule

  • Maintain appropriate records of all operational activities, ensuring all are fully and correctly completed, returning to the office at the end of your shift:

    – Packing sheet

    – Completed Protocol (to the lab)

    – Daily change over sheet

  • Communicate immediately to Production Manager any customer facing problems

Plant & Equipment

  • Ensure any defects are reported and any down time recorded on the shift change over sheet

  • Ensure mill is cleaned in accordance with current procedures and necessary records maintained

  • Ensure a record of daily service and calibration checks are maintained, any issues recorded and rectified

Training

    • Ensure relevant operations are trained in:
      • Customer service product protocols
      • Defect reporting procedures
      • Packing record sheets
      • Sampling requirements
      • Raw material intake procedures
      • Accident reporting
      • Health and Safety requirements
      • Company Quality systems (including UFAS protocol)
      • Mill cleaning procedures
      • Product handling
      • Emergency contact procedures
      • Mill operation
        • White Line
        • Brown Line
        • Liquid Line
        • Omega Line
        • Walthambury
        • Big bag blower

Staff Management

  • Lead by example, taking hands on approach

  • Handle operator grievances within the company policy, reporting any issues to the Production Manager or Production Coordinator.

Issue, train in the use of and maintain a record of all PPE required.

 

Qualifications

  • GCSEs

Skills And Experience

  • Team worker

  • Competent fork truck driver

  • Good communicator at all levels

  • H&S aware

  • Good people management skills

  • Computer literate.

  • Proven track record in leading small teams in either a supervisory or management capacity
