Maintenance apprentice (Mechanical)

Anpario is currently recruiting for a Maintenance apprentice (Mechanical)  in the maintenance department based at Manton Wood. Working Hours: 40. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Overal Purpose of Job:

  • To assist the Maintenance Manager in ensuring the mill runs in a safe and efficient manner, dealing with routine planned maintenance, breakdowns and overseeing onsite maintenance contractors.

  • All tasks to be performed in line within Company and legal Health and Safety procedures.

General Description – Task Related

Maintenance Tasks

To carry out the following tasks as required and as determined by the Maintenance Manager:-

  • Ensure equipment is serviced/calibrated as per the maintenance schedule

  • Lubrication schedule is up to date

  • All reported faults are logged and acted on

  • Check sheets filled in

  • Post work sheets filled in
  • All machinery is safely guarded
  • Breakdowns kept to a minimum

Sourcing and stocking spare parts

  • Ensure replacement parts are available as required, when following the planned maintenance plan.
  • Maintain a list of consumables and suppliers.

Breakdowns

  • Taking instructions form the Maintenance Manager, ensure we minimise down time during plant breakdowns at Manton Wood Mill.

Planned Maintenance

  • Following the planned maintenance schedule and after agreement with the Maintenance Manager carry out the tasks requested to minimise breakdowns and loss of production.

Modifications

  • Carry out any modifications required and in accordance with all safety rules and regulations.

Safety

  • To ensure all duties are carried out safely and with the highest concern for others on the site.

  • To work to current Health and Safety regulations and to wear appropriate safety equipment.

  • To be aware of handling instructions for Raw Materials and of Finished Product MSDS sheets.
  • To alert the other staff when a safety issue is perceived.

  • To undertake responsibilities in emergency response/crisis situations as required

  • Ensure all plant is isolated before carrying out any work.
  • Ensure permits to work are used and followed.

Other Duties

  • Maintain all working areas in a clean and safe condition to protect product from cross contamination from equipment.

  • Attend day release college

  • Hold regular progress meetings with Maintenance Manager/college

Qualifications

  • Driving licence advantage

  • Preferably NVQ level three in Mechanical engineering/ maintenance or working towards

Skills And Experience

  • Willingness to learn

  • Good communication skills
